SULLIVAN COUNTY — Members of the Monticello Police arrested Paul A. Ellis, age 35, of Monticello on Tuesday, November 30 and charged him with the Felonies of Burglary in the 3rd degree and Criminal mischief in the 3rd degree.
At 3:20 a.m. this morning, police allege that Ellis did knowingly enter the Ted Stroebele Center located at 10 Jefferson Street in the Village of Monticello and remained unlawfully inside. While inside the building, Police say Ellis picked up a chair and threw it through a glass pane window near the rear entrance, thereby shattering it. Employees discovered the broken window at 7:30 a.m. and notified Monticello Police. Monticello Officers reviewed video surveillance from inside the building and identified Ellis.
Ellis was located walking on Broadway and he was arrested. In accordance with NYS bail reform guidelines, Ellis was issued an Appearance Ticket pending further action in the Village of Monticello Justice Court.
The filing of an accusatory instrument is merely an accusation and every person who is arrested is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
